My mother is BLO so I can answer few things. Every BLO or any election official just need your name and photo to create voter id. Most of the time other information are either incorrect or fake. This time eci is doing an exercise where you need an epic number to keep your name in electoral roll. If your name is missing, you have to submit your parents epic number. By doing this exercise they are removing duplicate voters from multiple constituencies. And it was very common thing just while back. Even my name was registered in voter list from 3 constituencies.

Also those who are looking for anomalies in a country of billions, you will find at least millions. Bihar had too many non existent voters who were either died or migrated. Event of its best voting number, Bihar hardly crosses 60% exercised while neighbouring Bengal crosses 80% most of the time.

I can guarantee you, you've downloaded the wrong booth list. Just recheck. If none of the people in the list is nearby to your home, then it must be a different list. Your booth must have some right and left section. Check both list.

The house number assigned to electors in the electoral roll is temporary and symbolic (notional). It has no relation to the elector’s actual house number or family, and this is an all-India phenomenon, not just for Bihar.

The reason behind this is that even in 2025 there is no official house numbering done by the municipality or panchayat at the village level. All the house numbers you see are just temporary and arbitrary, used only for convenience and formality.

The Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 stipulate that electoral rolls should list electors by house number or alphabetically if instructed, which means some sort of numbering scheme must be used, even if it is unofficial.

All the sensationalism happening around house numbers is totally useless and unnecessary.

Multiple enrollments of the same person, no deletion of dead voters, ineligible voters, and lack of linkage with Aadhaar are genuine concerns that should be highlighted. But this house number issue is just diverting attention from other, more serious problems in the voter list.

It's funny how Rahul Gandhi's essential accusation is against Election Commission of India but response is coming from the BJP and BJP's IT cell as can be seen in the comments here.

A true patriot's response should be to question the EC. BJP's correct response should be to demand answers from EC. After all, they are just a political party and voter fraud should affect all parties equally.

But the way this news is suppressed in the media, the way IT cell is working overtime in this comment section &amp; the way BJP is attacking Rahul Gandhi proves that EC and BJP are in collusion. That proves what Rahul Gandhi claims.

Regardless of whether there was election fraud or not, I don't see this guy as a credible source. Rahul Gandhi openly agreed to Trump's statement which said India is a dead economy, and embarrassingly his own party mates had to fact check him. Fast forward to now, he's calling out Trump's economic blackmail and  bullying. 

Atleast stick with one argument instead of flip flopping everywhere. There are lots of people in India who would gladly switch away from BJP for a breath of fresh air but this will only derail India if they came to power in the state they are in right now.

If he really has proof and submitted it to EC and EC won't do anything, do you think supreme court will keep silent?. Remember, almost all the judges in the SC are always on the lookout for "ground breaking" judgements(SC used it's "special powers" 791 times since 1950. That should give you an idea). Duplicate voters and dead voters is a big issue in every constituency. That’s why EC is doing SIR for Bihar elections and removed lakhs of duplicate/dead voters. The same Rahul Gandhi is crying foul for this. If he had done the same exercise in the constituency where he won he would have found thousands of duplicate/dead voters too. By the same logic, he won by cheating as well. Correlation doesn’t mean causation, to test his logic he should have done similar exercise in the constituency where congress won. Of course he wouldn’t do that. He just wants to throw mud at EC and BJP.

Election commission, even judges in developed countries which are democratic countries are appointed by the elected govt. In India only EC etc are appointed by elected govt, but not even judges.

But they all get their independence as you would need 2/3 of parliament votes to remove them once appointed. So they are considered as independent. Practice around the world.

Even though opposition was absent, the bill was passed with absolute majority, not just majority of people sitting inside the parliament. If such bill passing not allowed, then opposition will simply create ruckus in every parliament session, and gets suspended, and the govt wont be able to pass any bill in the 5 years of the term
